I was going through early family photos and I discovered this photo of my Dad's first motor vehicle. Dad is in the driver's seat. My uncle Stan is beside the car. Can anyone identify the car make/model? Date: unknown. Photographer: unknown. Location: unknown

FEEDBACK RECEIVED
Stax > looks like no front brakes so probably pre 1928.
John Weeks > Okay. Thanks, Stax. That is a bit of information I can work with. There are other photos I have that show no special family significance as yet.
Stax > a good pic of the radiator grille will enable identification
John Weeks > I know nothing about cars but I am confident that there are some here in my friends group that will help me in this matter.
Stax > Grandad's T Ford rotting into the pumpkin patch...... [Photo supplied]
John Weeks > fabulous pic!
Kaye G. > Looks the person is in the back seat John. Can't see anyone on the driver side. 😀
John Weeks > Yeah it is a bit odd that my Dad is on the passenger's side.
Stax > left hand drive?
John Weeks > Not that I am aware of, Stax. I left a message with both of my brothers to get back to me on this.
Kaye G. > your dad is in the passenger seat. The steering wheel is just visible on the right side of the car.
John Weeks > re: "a good pic of the radiator grille will enable identification" [Close photo supplied]
Graham G. > I could tell you a dozen makes and models that it’s not, but I still don’t know what it is.
John Weeks > My brother suggested that it could be a Minerva.
Graham G. > This is a 1914 Minerva. It has the same shape grille, so I think your brother is correct. [Photo supplied]
John Weeks > It looks very close to the mark, Graham. I think my Dad would have bought the car second-hand as we have a reference to Dad driving this car at 1927 family funeral.
Stax > 1914 Minerva. Belgian, posh! [Photo supplied]
John Weeks > It is a pretty impressive car, Stax. Goodness knows how my Dad could afford to purchase it (even as a second-hand) in those days. My Dad revealed so little of his early days. Maybe there was a reason!
Bronwyn H. > They don't make them like that anymore.
Lainie . > Your dad or your grandfather?
John Weeks > My Dad. I was born when my Dad was 50.
Susan G. > Could be a lancia or a DeSoto
John Weeks > I will have to check that out later, Susan. Thanks for the feedback.
