Music Memorabilia

John Weeks Collections

I was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1953. From an early age, just before my teens, I was constantly tuning in to the AM radio stations that were operating in Melbourne, enjoying the different genres of music, from pop to rock. My elder brothers were regularly bringing home vinyl singles and albums of the current artists of the time, which further increased my appreciation of the new sounds that were on offer. As a teenager I would buy various music magazines that were published here in Australia and abroad. I was eager to find out more of the background of the music that I was listening to. I also started going to music clubs, pubs and music halls to see my favourite artists live. It was an exciting time for me in the 1970’s (and onwards).

Over the years my taste in music grew and expanded. I was seeking out fresh new sounds, new styles, and performances.

In 1996, I decided to become totally immersed in Community Radio and the music scene. And, of course, photography! And from these diverse mediums of communication and expression, I have been able to achieve a lifestyle full of creativity and inventiveness.

My photography has been featured on music websites, festival & concert promotional material, CD covers, music videos, and various projects on commission. And my music collection grew immeasurably.

I got the point, just recently, of asking myself what do I do with all that I collected. It is stored in a dedicated room, not necessarily collecting dust, but more to the point, it is unseen by no one else except me. It is time to share various aspects of my collection to you in the digital world of the internet.

Hence this website. Enjoy!
