Inspired by a Jules Verne story

I came across this small 1948 news story about Speleology, and its connection to the Jules Verne’s story ‘Journey To The Centre Of The Earth'.

Speleologists, the modern cavemen, spend most of their time crawling enthusiastically through underground caverns. Norbert Casteret was inspired in his childhood by Jules Verne’s Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, and some of his adventures as a speleologist have been no less fantastic than that journey. He has lived with the bats, discovered amazing examples of the art of palaeolithic man, and established the true source of the Garonne. His story is published by Dent at 15/ , and called simply My Cross. --- by E.R., The Argus newspaper, Melbourne, Australia, May 8, 1948
