Australians are being encouraged to rethink the way they approach death, with the founders of digital legacy platform My TAP®, My Time and Place, calling for a national movement to democratise dying and give people back the power to decide how they will be remembered.
According to My TAP® founders Isla George and Lisa Wendland, too many funerals bear little resemblance to the person whose life they are supposed to celebrate.
Instead, they have become highly structured, traditional ceremonies that often fail to capture the personality, humour, passions and individuality of the person who has died.
