Topic: RACV to trial a mobile DC fast charger in its Emergency Roadside Assistance patrol fleet

Yes, RACV (Royal Automobile Club of Victoria) has announced and begun trialing a mobile DC fast charger in its Emergency Roadside Assistance patrol fleet.
Key Details:
Start: The trial launched in June 2026.
Setup: A single Melbourne-based patrol van is fitted with a 20kW DC on-board charger
Performance: It delivers around 1 km of range per minute of charging. In as little as 20 minutes, it can provide enough charge for drivers to reach the next charging station or get home safely.
Purpose: To help stranded EV drivers (especially with the rise in "out-of-charge" callouts, which have increased ~50% year-on-year since 2023) get back on the road faster without needing a tow.
The trial will assess demand, performance, and operational fit before any wider rollout. It is reportedly faster than some existing mobile charging options in Australia.
This aligns with broader trends as EV adoption grows in Victoria, reducing inconvenience and costs for members..
