Back in 2014, in a public forum in Victoria (Australia), as a photographer, I directed a question to the State politicians (Liberal Party government), asking what the rationale is for Duck Shooting in Victoria. Here is the video link: https://www.facebook.com/reel/10203636990316219

Today: Duck hunting in Victoria is managed through adaptive harvest frameworks based on population data, but it faces ongoing opposition from animal welfare, conservation, and environmental groups (e.g., Wildlife Victoria, Animals Australia, BirdLife Australia). Critics argue it is cruel, risks non-target species, and should be banned, citing parliamentary inquiries that recommended a phase-out. Supporters view it as a long-standing tradition with regulated sustainable impacts on game populations. The state government has continued the activity with adjustments like earlier start times and bag limits rather than a ban.
